From Provisions to Promises

“The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate the produce of Canaan.”

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The manna was the provisions but the produce of the land was the promise. They were provided manna to sustain them through their wilderness but they were given the produce of the land in the land of the promise. When the promise came the provisions stopped.

Too many of us are satisfied with the provisions given rather than being obedient until  the promise manifest.  Many are settling for mediocrity rather than pursuing the things of God. Far too often we take the easy road because it allows us to remain in stagnation. However God’s desire was not to give them manna forever. It was a temporary solution on the way to the promise.

Manna had no real shape or definition. It did not last and it was only enough for the day. However, the produce was not only pleasing to the eye, it was what they desired, something given that they did not necessarily plant and was ultimately better than they manna.

What are we settling for that God has provided to sustain us only as we traveled along the way? What is it that we are willing to forfeit simply because we do not want to do the work to make it to the promise. What lie has the enemy told you that you own as you look in the mirror and see your future? What about the manna causes you to believe it is better than the promise?

Never mistake the provision for the promise.
